TMD Friction announce the appointment of new UK Plant Manager

Automotive manufacturer TMD Friction has announced the appointment of Michael Hoggart as new UK Plant Manager.

Michael was previously employed at Gestamp in Newton Aycliffe as Operations Manager and with over 32 years working for the company, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.

The 51-year-old dad of three from Bishop Auckland said: “I am very much looking forward to getting to grips with this exciting new role.

“I was fortunate enough to spend quite a bit of time on site in the weeks leading up to my official start date, so that gave me the chance to learn more about the challenges and pressure points within the business, but also what the opportunities are.

“TMD Friction is a huge global employer and with it of course come big expectations, but that’s something I am relishing and know I’ve got a fantastic team around me who are already proving to be a great asset and share my ambition to make this plant a success.”

TMD Friction is based at Oakesway Trading Estate in Hartlepool, can produce 95 per cent of the European vehicle park range for the independent after market and currently manufactures over 400,000 parts per week.

Michael started out as a robotics and welding apprentice before undertaking additional qualifications to allow him to move into supervisory and management roles.

His role at Gestamp has seen him travel around the world, including a secondment to the company’s new plant in Tennessee in the United States to support its launch.

Liam Booth, EVP, Global Operations at TMD Friction, said: “I am delighted to welcome Michael into the role of UK Plant Manager.

“With his experience of working at global automotive manufacturer Gestamp for 32 years, he is the right man to lead our UK factory into the next phase of its journey.”

TMD Friction, which has its only UK production facility in Hartlepool with support sites in Warrington, Cleckheaton and Seaton Ross, has been making parts for the passenger car aftermarket since 1974 and now employs 485 people at its Hartlepool factory.
