“The fact we received so many nominations from people in the community is testament to our commitment to supporting our local area, and we are thrilled that we were the only funeral business in County Durham to have been recognised.”

The judging panel for the County Durham Together Awards said: “During the pandemic John Delanoy and Julie Stout decided to do something memorable, that comforted the people in mourning. They go up and beyond the call of duty for all families and give 110 per cent. They have brought something different and lasting to the people they care for and most importantly they continue to do so. I know I speak on behalf of the residents of Easington, Horden, Peterlee and the surrounding areas when I say there is no one more deserving of this award nomination than them.”
