A beauty and wellness therapist is in the running for three prestigious industry awards just over a year since opening her own salon.
Sarah Davies from Easington decided to launch Zen by Sarah after seeing a gap in the market for a salon offering Japanese head spa treatments.
After undertaking her training alongside her day job with the Department for Work and Pensions, Sarah officially opened in June of last year.
Now, as she enters year two in business, Sarah has been nominated for two accolades at the Aureum Awards, which are the coveted industry awards for aesthetics, hair and beauty.
She has also been shortlisted at the North East Hair and Beauty Awards, for head spa technician.
She has been nominated in the ‘Businesswoman of the Year’ and ‘Head Spa of the Year’ categories.
Sarah, 32, said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been nominated in two categories at the Aureum awards, and at the North East Hair and Beauty Awards, especially so early on in my business journey.
“I love what I do and I am so passionate about bringing the very best treatments and care to my clients, so to be recognised at this level is fantastic.
“Just being nominated is a win for me but we’ll see what happens come September when the winners at both awards are announced.”
As well as Japanese head spas, Sarah offers a range of treatments, including facials, body massages, microneedling and lymphatic drainage.
She also offers a spa day experience which clients are offered their choice of treatments and an afternoon tea, which she offers in partnership with Squires café, which is located next door to her business in Easington Village.
Sarah added: “I always look at new treatments that are coming to market so I can offer my clients the very best care. But above all else, it’s about the attention to detail – I really look after them. From the moment they walk through the door, it’s all about them. I take the time to understand what they need and want from their treatment so I can tailor my approach so that I give them the most from their experience. And that really does make a difference.”
